Ismosys has announced the availability of 4GB (Gigabyte) DDR3 800, 4Rx8, Registered ECC dual in-line memory module (DIMM) that features a core operating voltage of only 1.35 volts.
Developed by DRAM modules and Flash memory specialist Wintec Industries, this DDR3L 4GB Registered DIMM has already received validation from Intel® for use in its Xeon® 5500 Platform.
According to Ismosys MD Nigel Watts, Wintec’s 4GB DDR3L module is ideally suited for embedded applications that require high density, lower power consumption and improved thermal efficiency:
”The module enables designers to take advantage of the power savings provided by DDRL’s low core voltage technology and operates from a single 1.35V rail, compared to the 1.5V of existing devices”, Watts said. “It is equipped with a full DIMM Heat Spreader to further optimise power consumption and at the same time, add further stability and ruggedness for demanding environments. Wintec’s 4GB DDR3L module provides dramatically improved data transaction times while offering power savings of up to 20% in mainstream applications”.
”Wintec has a roadmap to add further to its portfolio of validated Module solutions as low-power DDR enabled platforms proliferate and Ismosys is committed to delivering these advancement in DRAM technology to its customers in a timely manner, Watts concluded.”. Building on the benefits of DDR3 over DDR2, DDR3L offers a further improvement for greener technology by allowing better performance with less power consumption.
