Robust Gigabit Ethernet cards maximize availability of chassis/server ‘slots’
Interphase high-performance network cards for high-end enterprise network server applications are designed to make the most efficient use of the available ‘slots’ in the chassis or server design. SlotOptimizer™ cards provide multiple Gigabit Ethernet (GE) ports complemented by hardware-based offload encryption/decryption processing via an on-board security accelerator processor.
In this issue of e-Ismosys, we introduce the SlotOptimizer 562GL PCI Express Low Profile Dual-Port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter and the SlotOptimizer 564GL PCI Express Low Profile Quad-Port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.
Widely recognized for its portfolio of high-performance Cavium OCTEON™-based multi-core packet processor cards, Interphase also offers a range of high-performance network cards for high-end enterprise network server applications.
Ideal for small-footprint and rack-mounted servers, the new cards support both low-profile and full-height brackets for maximum flexibility. Each independent GE port supports auto negotiation, enabling the cards to auto-configure to the best possible mode of operation over an Internet link and ensuring the highest possible performance for the application.
These new PCI Express x4-compliant cards feature a Broadcom® BCM5715C 10/100/1000Base-T controller with integrated transceiver. The ports are IEEE 802.3ab compliant, and each supports up to 2Gbps throughput per port at full- or half-duplex operation over RJ-45 connectors. Two LEDs per port show link status/activity and network speed. The Broadcom drivers support advanced features such as CPU task offload, priority queuing, virtual LANs, flow control, link aggregation, and failover for both boards. Jumbo frames (9KB) may be configured on the SlotOptimizer 564GL. Drivers are available for a wide range of operating systems including: Linux®, Netware®, Windows NT®, Windows® 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, X86 Solaris™, Solaris for SPARC™, and SCO® OpenServer5.
“Interphase has years of experience in I/O cards and offers a variety of models for use in enterprise network servers, low-profile rack-mounted servers, high-availability firewalls and cache servers, Internet servers, appliance servers, and multi-channel ISP routers,” stated Randall McComas, vice president at Interphase. “Most requirements can be met with an off-the-shelf Interphase solution but we also offer a customization service that ensures an exact fit to the specification.”
Interphase is also widely recognized for its portfolio of high-performance Cavium OCTEON™-based multi-core packet processor cards, so check out the whole Interphase product line (www.iphase.com/products) if you’re preparing to design a solution that requires network connectivity, content management, or packet processing for key applications in the wireless and wireline converged communications network.
