cLite Capacitive Interface
Sensor Signal Conditioner > ZMD31210
The ZMD31210 cLite is a CMOS integrated circuit for accurate capacitance-to-digital conversion and sensor-specific correction of capacitive sensor signals. Digital compensation of sensor offset, sensitivity, and temperature drift is accomplished via an internal digital signal processor running a correction algorithm with calibration coefficients stored in a non-volatile EEPROM.
The ZMD31210 is adjustable to many capacitive sensors with capacitances ranging from 2pF to 260pF and a sensitivity of 125aF/LSB to 1pF/LSB depending on the resolution, speed, and range settings (using 3-bit reference and 3-bit offset capacitances). It is compatible with both single capacitive sensors (both terminals must be accessible) and differential capacitive sensors. Measured and corrected sensor values can be output as I²C, SPI, PDM, or alarms.
The I²C interface can be used for a simple PC-controlled calibration procedure to program a set of calibration coefficients into an on-chip EEPROM. The calibrated ZMD31210 and a specific sensor are mated digitally: fast, precise, and without the cost overhead associated with trimming by external devices or laser.
For quick and easy evaluation of the ZMD31210 and support for calibrating prototypes, ZMD offers the ZMD31210 development kit, which includes the development board, TSSOP14 samples, and software. Order using part number ZMD31210KIT.
Welcome SARah – High Performance ADC
ADC - SARah
The ZMD SARah family is a high performance low power ADC family with sampling rates up to 300ksps. The converter family is successive-approximation-register architecture based. A wide range of products from 8 to 12 Bit resolution and 2 to 8 input channels are available. SARah family is available in standard temperature range (-25°C to +85°C) as well as in a version qualified according AEC-Q100 with full automotive temperature range from -40°C to +125°C. All products are ROHS compliant.
Multi-Sensor Interface Circuit (MUSic)
The ZMD21013 is the first member of ZMD’s MUlti-channel / MUlti-use Sensor Interface (MUSicTM) IC family focusing on sensor-controlled, battery-powered, microcontroller based mobile electronics products. In general, the IC amplifies and digitizes the respective voltage signals of the connected sensors. The ZMD21013 can be flexibly adapted to almost any resistive sensor type. It is optimized for (resistive) bridge-typed sensors.
The device incorporates a sophisticated analog-frontend, including a programmable gain amplifier, a 16bit Charge-Balance-ADC and a power-saving analog sampling architecture. The A/D-conversion’s resolution and time, input range and sensitivity as well as the measurement mode are programmable. The measurement values are provided as digital output at the serial SPI-standard interface.
With its high level of integration and smart power architecture, the ZMD21013 can dramatically reduce the average overall bill of materials and power consumption of an entire sensor interface system. The result is an average ultra-low power consumption of only 25-to-30 µWatts during normal operations and less than 1µW in idle mode. Beyond the common signal measurement mode, the ZMD21013 supports an additional temperature measurement mode and an auto-zero mode, which allows monitoring of, long-term stability drifts, and offsets for compensation and correction purposes.
Further features of the ZMD21013 are: an alternative RC-clock generator, a wide supply voltage range (2.2V … 5.5V) and an integrated 16x8bit EEPROM (permanent storage of configuration data).
